ShabbatTot Shabbat High Holidays Holidays Interfaith

Temple Sinai conducts Religious Services every week for both Erev Shabbat and Shabbat, and for all Jewish Holidays.  We use the Gates of Prayer for Shabbat and Weekdays (published by the Central Conference of American Rabbis [CCAR]) prayer book and have our own songster booklets.  We have a small choir composed of members who enhance our services; music is an important part of each service.  Our High Holiday services are, naturally, a special time to celebrate Rosh Hashanah and observe Yom Kippur.

  •    Erev Shabbat Services are every Friday night at 7:30 PM (unless it is a special service with a pre-announced schedule - check the website or call the Office if you aren't sure).  Following the service, we enjoy an Oneg Shabbat with challah, wine, and delicious snacks, and you are encouraged to mingle with the rabbi, cantor, our special Shabbat welcomers and ushers, and other members.
  •    Special Erev Shabbat Services - such as monthly Intergenerational Shabbat, Blue Jeans Shabbat, Chanukah and Purim - usually start at 7:30 PM and may be preceded by a 5:30 PM community dinner at the Temple. Monthly Family Services (also called Intergenerational) are sometimes led by the Religious School or the Temple Youth Group.
  •    Shabbat Services are held every Saturday morning at 10 AM.  They are followed by D'Var Torah - a lively discussion of Torah and commentary, from Noon - 1 PM.  We also have regular Tot Shabbat Services; see next item.

A Well-Kept Secret and a Pleasant Surprise!   - by Lillian Nadler

Saturday mornings can be a time for reflection and peace of mind for all of us if only we would attend Saturday morning services and find out for ourselves how meaningful it can be. So it was for me this past Saturday.

Those attending are most gracious and happy to have you join them. A small group of Saturday morning regulars enjoy the services, coming away with a feeling of peace and desire to come back for more.

Our young members who cannot attend Friday night services would do well to attend Saturday morning, and bring their young families with them. Our senior members who cannot attend Friday night services would find it to be a wonderful way to spend the morning and start a new week. Oh yes, and a lovely Kiddush afterwards.

Come one and all. See for yourself what I have discovered. Saturday morning services at Temple Sinai.

  •      Tot Shabbat

Jewish Joy, Love and Learning for Tots and siblings to age 7+.  Art and Music for little people, Storytelling, Creative Movement, Ecology, Prayer through Song. Meets the 1st Saturday each month. 10 AM – 11:30 AM. Oneg/Brunch.  See “The Scroll” for Special Events with each month’s special theme.  Adults must be accompanied by a child.  Call Sheila at (561) 391-4826 sheilasong@mac.com for more information.

  •      High Holiday Services are observed for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.  Erev Yom Kippur, or Kol Nidre, is an especially beautiful traditional service.

Click here to see our High Holiday Services schedule and policies.

  •    Holiday Services are celebrated in the weekly, or special, holiday service.  Traditional rituals are observed for Sukkot, Simchat Torah, Chanukah, and Purim.
  • Passover is a special holiday at Temple Sinai - we celebrate a festive Seder on the first night of Passover, attended by both members and non-members. This features a traditional Seder run by our own Rabbi and Cantor, with a delicious catered meal, and is often a sellout!
  • Also, our Sisterhood sponsors a very popular Women’s Seder in the weeks leading up to Passover. Our women have learned to sign up early. It has sold out every year.  Click here for description of this great Temple Sinai tradition.

Our beautiful sanctuary seats 250 (and can be expanded to accommodate 800). Our choir before a performance.   Oneg Shabbat following Erev Shabbat.

  • Interfaith Services are held together with other religious groups nearby in the spirit of promoting interfaith understanding and fraternity.  One special tradition is the Interfaith Service held annually on Thanksgiving eve.
